Stake Conference

This past weekend was stake conference for my stake here in Orem. Although I didn't attend the Saturday Night session I did go to the Sunday morning session and loved it. We got a new stake presidency and Elder Bednar was there and spoke! He gave an awesome talk and am so glad I was there to hear it.
Oh of the most interesting things that he said that stood out to me was directed toward the girls in the room. He said "RM or Return missionaries is just a title just because a young man has the title does not mean he is qualified for you to marry him." He went on to say that marrying a guy who is not a returned missionary can be better than marrying a "RM". It kind of shocked me but at the same time I had to agree with him, especially knowing and hearing about some RMs in this world. He also said that if you are told me your partner that he had revelation that WE are to get married then run away. While dating you partner is not able to have a revelation for you.
In the middle of saying all of this he said "I don't know why I'm talking about this other than there is at least one person that needs to hear it" and continued on with what he was planning on talking about....which was along the lines of how incredible leadership in our church is. Isn't it amazing what the spirit can do?
Bednar is one of my favorites. He has quite the sense of humor too. Great talk.....

Almost here.....

I still suck at blogging but one day I will have an exciting enough life that I can update on a weekly basis and the posts will be interesting....But as for now, the semester is just flying by and pushing me right along with it. I honestly can't believe I have survived this semester but I have and have LOVED it. I have been so much happier and have made some life long friends.
As for my personal life, not much going on. We recieved Ryan's flight information this week and The Barton family is so excited for April 23rd at 9:50 AM. It will be so fun to have our family together again.
That is about all going on that I have to update you on though! Other than I move back home the last Thursday in April and then who knows what will happen...More school? Probably. Summer starts May 6!!

Wow

So, me and my friend Kiley had a fun girls day yesterday. I got done with school and hurried home to Salt Lake and Kiley came to pick me up and we went to lunch at Cheesecake Factory (always a good choice) and went to Nordstrom.
If you didn't know yesterday was the opening day of the new nordstrom at Fashion Place. INCREDIBLE! I can't believe how much bigger it is. I feel everyone needs to go see it for themselves....what a beatiful building! It was so overwhelming. The shoe department alone was incredible. When we tried to find a makeup counter and asked three people and no one know where it was....we knew that it wasn't just us, it is so big.
It was so much fun! Can't wait for the crowd to die down so I can do some shopping. I think everyone should go at least walk through the place! Fun girls trip!

My thoughts.....

I've been thinking a lot lately about the choices I have made and the life that I have lived so far and continue to live. A few weeks ago an acquaintance of mine passed away and following that I have known of a few more deaths that have taken place and one who is watching to continue on into the next life. Having two of these people being 19 has really hit me. Although they both had their own situations, one being a special needs and everyone knowing that he was not going to be able to live as long as some people do, it has really hit me just how fast life can end. We never know what is going to happen and when our time here on earth is going to be through.
While thinking about this I have found myself many times asking myself, "Have I lived a life I will be proud of? Am I doing the things I should/want to be doing?"
On top of wondering if I am on the right track and in a situation that whenever my time to graduate this life will be I have reminded myself over and over again how grateful I am for the beliefs I have and that I can see my loved ones again whether it is me that passes away or a love one that passes away. There are many people who don't believe the same things I do, which is fine, but I am so glad that I do.
I am so grateful for the gospel in my life and the things that it has done for me.
This post sounds like I am planning on not living much longer but it is not like that at all. Watching classmates being buried has just made me stop and think. Although these two are not the first classmates I've watched be buried it has hit me more than before. Don't get me wrong...the ones in the past have effected me and I have stopped and thought about life but I don't know what it is....maybe it is just because I have matured more or something.
Life is so valuable....Live your life to the fullest so when your life on earth is through you can be proud of what you did with thise precious time and the accomplishments you had.
