Our deepest fear

I got this quote yesterday in Health and really liked it and thought I'd share it....

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

NOT IN MY KITCHEN....

Jenny, since you are the only one who reads this I'll write you your own little message. :) After this happened it didn't take me more than 2 minutes to tell myself that I had to blog this for you. They tried to get me to take pictures and a refused...sorry!...I don't know that you would have wanted to see it anyway.
So, as an apartment we decided we were kind of antisocial and were going to help eachother out and encourage eachother to be social.
So....my roommate Brittney had to take a textbook to an apartment of boys in our ward today and I tagged along. We were invited in and just hung out for a little while. They asked what we were doing with the rest of our day and told them we were going back to our apartment to make cookies. They asked if they could come make them with us so just being the nice girls we are (and with our new goal to be social) we agreed to let them come. They came and we had a good time making the cookies.
After a few hours the two boys, Josh and Adam, decided they wanted to go shooting. They tried to get us to come but we denied the offer. Josh said that he eats everything that he kills so he would for sure try whatever he got today. Since we denied the offer to go they told us they would bring the animal back to share with us. We demanded them to not bring any dead animal into our apartment.
They left and a few hours later came walking back in. We made it very clear that they were not allowed in the apartment with any creature. They assured us they didn't have anything....UNTIL....they walked into the kitchen and pulled out a bag with A DEAD SPARROW inside!!! they pulled out the cutting board and started tearing the thing apart, took out a pan, and started cooking the poor bird! They then put it on a paper towel and shared the meat of the bird AND the heart! They thought it was funny but we definately did not. After eating the animal they left and we immediately got out the bleach and soaked the place in bleach!
I knew college life was an adventure...but I didn't know I would have to put up with boys who go on hikes and bring dinner back...GROSS...

Goodbye for now...

So it has been a while since I posted anything...(Sorry Jenny, or should I just say Martin girls!!) But the end of the semester was good although I was glad when it was over and am looking forward to a busy 19 credit semester! I for sure will be busy but I am surprisingly excited about it! I'll keep you posted on that.

The biggest thing going on now days in my family is my older sister Heather moving away. Heather has finally graduated college (boy am I jealous) and is ready to start life in the real world. As most people know Heather found a great guy this summer while working in California. This guy is adored by everyone in my family (and very many outside my family), no she is not engaged but yes she is packing up her car and starting her road trip across the country tomorrow. She will be living in Ohio for the next little while to be closer to him and also I think just to mix things up.

Heather will be greatly missed at home and has many people here that love her very much. It will be weird having her gone and life at home will not be the same. Although this has not been an easy decision for her and if she could pick up our whole house along with everyone inside it she would much rather do that, I feel that this is an exciting adventure that she needs and I think it is what is best for her right now. No matter the outcome with Will is, there will be so much she learns from this experience. I'm sure that it won't be anything she regrets.

Heather, you are loved by many and have lots of support behind you although you may not be close by. You have many family and friends that are only 11 digits away. Love you. Miss you. Be safe. As mom always says, "You're only young once". You may not be in high school or college anymore but you're still young. Make the most out of this experience, keep us updated, and come back safe.
